when flowers are more than just flowers

I snuck across the street yesterday to snip some herbs from my neighbor’s garden while she was at work. And while I was at it, I decided to snip a few flowers for my table as well. (I have good neighbors to let me do that, don’t I?!)

I had only planned for them to be bright and pretty on my table. But the more I walked past them, the more they begged to be photographed. And the more I clicked away, something occurred to me.

All the different colors and textures and smells are what make this little arrangement so perfect. In a sense, they’re like people.

God has placed many very different people into my life at home and even online, and each of them offers a different flavor… aroma… color to my life these days. My relationships are like a bouquet of flowers, arranged by the Master Creator, a gift for me to tend – for His glory.

He grows them  – these people – and brings them to me at various times as a gift. Some bless me, some need me, some grow right along with me. These friendships are all different – and they make living life for Him so brilliant!

Jesus, thank you for your real-life perfect example of  living in community – with all sorts of people and relationships. The ones who need me, who get me and who bless me – and the many who do all three. You have masterfully arranged people around me, Lord  – may I honor you in each interaction, for your glory. Amen.

I could not love this more… and you speak such beautiful truth. I have so much love for you, friend!

And I have to tell you… I had to go searching today for your post about Oliver driving his trucks on your belly right before Hazel was born. My kids were using my gigundo belly as a car ramp today, and I guess I needed a little “I’m not alone” moment. :) xo

Your out look on life is so refreshing and I’m inspired by you. You passion for the life God’s given you, your passion for God, really, encourages me in my own life and relationships. Honestly, I like to come here for the positive perspective you illustrate so beautifully on your blog. :)
