We had a quick morning of garage sales yesterday because we had lunch guests coming at 11 and my house was less than presentable after a week of pool trips and friends over and general life as a young family of four.
We hit one fantastic neighborhood sale with lots of participation and plenty of families with great things they no longer wanted! :)
I only ended up getting a few things for myself but one bonus sale at the end of our time out made it all worthwhile. (I got something there for one of y’all too!)
Here’s my Saturday morning rundown:
First, the on-the-boring-side stuff.
$1.00 – four large bubble mailers – I always need these for shipping Etsy orders so I was glad to grab a few needed items on the cheap!
$0.25 – Wooden Spinosaurus – just seemed like a fun project to do with my little guy this week. He loves building and he loves dinosaurs: win!
$0.50 – heart frame with tender bird print – a lot is going to have to change about this one before it goes on any wall in my house, but I have a vision. I’ve been doing some cool stuff with frames and fabric in the nursery this past week and I hope to resurrect this all but lost bit of wall art for that project.
$0.50 – wall lamp – A great opportunity to free up space on my night stand and to use one of the shades I bought here. (sorry it’s a little wonky in the picture!)
$5.00 – rattan chair – maybe this week’s theme is fixer-uppers… I saw this chair at a sale and even though I couldn’t say exactly where in my house I would put it (a strict garage-saling rule of mine), I kept thinking about this yellow chair I’d seen on Pinterest last week and had to take it home. (then I saw this and this when I got home and now I’m so excited to tackle this chair and make it cute!)
You think he’s excited about his painted future?? I do.
And now, we’re going to skip right on to my…
Tuck and Run find of the Day!
{which happens to contain the “what I found for you”
find of the day as well!}
$10.00 – six new-with-tags Flit and Flitter outfits! – we ran into a fantastic treat at the end of the day when we found a garage sale selling a rack full of brand new “Flit and Flitter” clothes all for $2 each. (We are familiar with the clothing line because the designer happens to be local – Hazel’s worn their stuff here and a few other places that I can’t seem to put my finger on at the moment).
Rebecca got a stack of really bright and beatiful things for Beatrice (they didn’t have a ton of things in Hazel’s size) which will also eventually belong to us (hurrah for hand-me-downs!).
I have pictured four of the outfits below, the other two things were a pair of 6x pants that I’m convinced fit me (should probably get a weigh-in from y’all on this?) and are currently in the wash and another cute top that I actually dropped as I was getting in the car and would have lost forever except that the seller tracked me down and I’ll be picking it up from her tomorrow (aren’t folks nice?!).
Hurrah for brand new (adorable!) clothes for $2 each! Big fat hurrah!
So, onto the “what I found for you” part!
(if you’ll pardon my incredibly wrinkly duvet…)
This outfit is still new with the tags but it’s too little for Hazel (size 6M). I bet one of you would love to have this, eh? (or the blue polkadot sleep sack if you’d rather- your pick!)
Well, I love sharing the joy!
Just leave a comment sometime between now and Monday (6/13) at 8pm telling me either:
a)what is your favorite late night talk show? or
b)what is your favorite restaurant to hit with your family or alone?
I’ll pick a winner at random and ship your prize off to you!
Happy Garage sales! Did y’all find anything good this weekend?
(ps- I realize that last week I promised you a great giveaway and an exciting announcement and I delivered neither. Blame the back-to-back tutorials. This week for sure – they’re worth the wait, I assure you!)
>2) Jaenicke's. UH-DUH.
Those clothes are adorbs, btw. Cute ruffles.
sickbane! whoa!
>Favorite late night show is Saturday Night Live. It's something my husband and I still watch together, so it's always like a date night. I almost always fall asleep on the couch before it's over though. And the older I get, the sooner I am falling asleep!
>Great finds! I've been inspired and am going to post my garage sale steal this week. :) This pregnancy, I've been craving Olive Garden!! And that polka dot bunting would be cute for our little guy on the way. :)
>Wonderful finds :) I love the outfit and I know a baby named Jade who will look delightful in it!
>My favorite restaurant with the family is Oregano's. It is a local pizza joint in my 'hood, in which my (noisy) family feels right at home.
Thanks for asking!
Melissa :)
>Hi Raechel,
Great finds! Love the rattan chair and think it will look perfect in yellow.
I would pick the pink two-piece outfit in your giveaway if I were to win…perfect to tuck away for this 3-week-old baby girl.
Hmm….favorite restaurant: a local Italian wine & mozzarella bar called Molto. So delicious!
;)

>oh those blue polka dots!!!!!!!!!!
i love to eat at chili's!!!!!!!!! yummy!
my email is real.simple.kristen at gmail dot com.
>You are my garage sale super hero. I love a good garage sale but I am totally in a rut this "season." That outfit is adorable and I am pretty sure it would look super cute on my due-very-soon baby girl.
My fave place to eat with the fam is definitely Jason's Deli. Best chicken salad EVER! :)
>I love Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. He has always cracked me up!
Your garage sale finds inspire me as well to find things on the cheap in our neighborhood.
>Oh that outfit would look great on my little sweetie in a few months! Fave restaurant alone is local Salsa Brava! With the fam is chick-fil-a.
>That little outfit would be perfect for our weekends on the lake with my little Bristol :) My favorite late night talk show is Jay Leno…I know him taking back his spot wasn't exactly done in the best way, but I've always appreciated his humor more than the other nightly hosts.
Just for kicks and giggles I'll go ahead and say that my favorite local eatery is an italian spot called Casa D'Angelo's. They serve large portions (enough for leftovers-woohoo!) and every dish is delicious. We go there with and without kids and it's awesome grub!
>My favorite restaurant is Mini Garden in Chinatown in downtown Honolulu!
>Rocknes. It's local! I have been having such great luck at garage sales, but that all stops this week. I'm having a baby girl on Saturday. :)
>Great finds for sure! I love a local restaurant called Cafe Eccel! They have the best straeberry – chocolate tarts! Oh my, they are so good! And I'm thinking my 2 month old (today!) daughter will be adorable in those pretty ruffles!
>My favorite restaurant is a local place called Pastabilities. They are fresh and homemade. They make the best spicy hot oil tomato sauce!
>since I don't stay up late enough to watch late night talk shows, I'll answer the place to eat. I love this Thai place here called Surie. They have to-die-for coconut soup. Oh. It's heaven.
>We love this local(Gastonia nc) place called Nicks tap house. They have the best steak ever!
>Our favorite place to eat is something local called Bodacious! Best barbeque in town!
>I like to watch Jimmy Fallon and I want the blue polka dot dress. I would give it to Joanna.
>You make me want to garage sale!! Would love that outfit for me new little girl!!
Sitting outside at Brixx and then walking over so my kids can play in splash pad doesn't get better for me :)
>So cute! Would love to win for my newest little girl coming in October. Blue Baker, a local place that we love!
>I have a littl girl (my first, two big brothers) coming in September. So cute! My favorite place to eat with my family is Chick-fil-a. Love the food, the kids love getting ice cream with the kids meal toy and of course the Christian music!
>I don't make it late night anymore…but, if I do, I don't watch talk shows, my favorite show to catch is Nightline.
>I love Letterman. His humor is much better than Leno (and he hasn't ousted anyone to take his spot back).
>SO cute! I'm not familiar with that brand but I will have to watch for it now! Our favorite restaurant for eating out? Tough call, but now that we live in the South we like to go to Zaxby's or Bojangles. I'm not sure if fast food counts, but we don't go out a lot!
>Those are all so cute! And I'm totally envious of the chair! I hope you'll show it off once it's completely transformed!
Our (ahem, my at least, and being the pregnant Mama, that's all that really counts right?) favorite restaurant right now is Chipotle! We'd never had one close by us until March, and now I can't get enough :)
>Jay Leno specifically on Monday nights! I love his headline segment :)
Great find! Hoping my name gets drawn :))
>Oh, I have just the girl for that outfit!
If we are going out as a family (three small kids!), these days it's Red Robin. Service is great and they bring the kids' food out FAST.

>Our favorite family restaurant is Ruby's (might be a California only place). It is a cute 50's diner. Always have balloon animals for the kids, good fries and burgers. And, sometimes we splurge on milkshakes! Those outfits are adorable. Might need to check their website!
>I try not to covet your finds, but you make it very difficult, Raechel! :)
Our favorite restaurant is Noodles and Company when we want to go fast, more "healthy" and inexpensive. And then Red Lobster when we're celebrating and want to splurge. Or have a gift card. :)
My 2.5 month old would look ador-able in that outfit!
>My favorite place to eat is a local place called Yolandas!!
>So cute! I'm not really a fan of late night talk shows… but I love a good late night music collection infomercial :-)
>Favorite place to eat with the family is a local Mexican cantina called Sagebrush in southeast Michigan. Seriously the best Mexican food EVER!! I would recommend it to anyone living in or visiting the area!
>We love noodles and company here! It's yummy and not so expensive. Oh, and they have rice krispy treats. :) -tess
>Well, since I have become pregnant (7.5 months now) my favorite restaurant has become SmashBurger…the crispy bbq ranch chicken sandwhich to be exact!! I would love this cute lil outfit for my soon to be born baby girl!!!
>#2- Swiss Chalet. Family friendly and good food.
I'm due with #2 in about 4 weeks and this would be so cute (Not sure of the gender though, so I might have to pick the blue sleep sack because a boy would look funny in pink if it turns out to be a boy)
>My favorite restaurant to eat at with the family is a place in our town called Los Cuccos!
>I love this precious outfit! We love to eat at this local place called Standing Stone where the fish tacos are fab ;)
>Hmmm, depends on where in the US I'm living. In Austin, Saltlick BBQ handsdown. In Georgia, it would be a Mexican restaurant called La Luna.
I'll have to look for that brand once we move. We're headed to East Tennessee this summer!
>I love Stella Tratoria. Fresh pasta made daily…yum!
>Love the 6 month outfit!! And I just found out I'm having a girl!
Fav restaurant at the moment: Molinari's in Franklin, TN — the rolls are SO good!!
>I like Texas Roadhouse, or maybe it's Logans instead. No, perhaps it's the catfish at Main St pub here in town. But I DO like the Pizza Shack pizza in a nearby town or should I pick Cracker Barrel? Oh but there's nothing like Dog n suds. Sigh. So many choices….
>We are adopting a 3 yr. old boy & his baby sister from Uganda. We have 4 girls but I gave away all of their baby clothes so we need to restock!
My favorite place to eat is a little Japanese restaurant called "Shima" back in our old hometown; Astoria, Queens. We can't get food like that down here in TN ;)
>Yay for a tuck and run find this weekend (and a great one at that)!
We love a bunch of our local places here in Ft. Worth, but I would have to say that Mama's pizza is a can't miss. :)
>Conan!
>My husband and I love Olive Garden, Chili's, Red Lobster, and a local joint called the Pearl Street Pub. I have a new niece coming in a few months who would look so cute in these clothes. I love garage sale finds! Thanks for the chance to win.
>Oh wow! Pick me, pick me…that outfit is adorable and if my math is right it should fit my little girl that is due in November next summer!
I don't watch a lot of late night TV as I am usually already asleep…3 kids and #4 on the way…I don't make it past 10pm!
So, I'll go w/ the restaurant…my favorite place to eat is Brio Italian Restaurant (without my kids!) :o)
>I'm a newbie to your blog and this adorable outfit would be precious on the little girl we are adopting in 13 days!!!
I'm a Leno girl through and through…. Really just live him. And since you asked, we live this little local joint Big Humphreys. It's Italian and the kids get to make their own pizza and Big Humphery gives all the kids bubble gum. Just good old fashioned genuine hospitality.
Loving your blog….
>I love your yard sale finds! :)
Favorite restaurant is a local BBQ place that is has the "down home" feel. Sibley's family owned :)
>Great finds! Favorite restaurant usually ends up being The CHeesecake Factory! Love the free bananas and bread for the kiddos b4 you order and love the free whipped cream and sprinkles for dessert for the kids too!
>oh my goodness i would love either one of these for my baby girl who is due in just 7 short weeks. i have yet to buy anything new for her since she has an older sister. so it would be fun to have something that is just hers :)
we just moved a few months ago and we have a new favorite local mexican place. my 2 year old daugher gets down with the guacamole and it's always a good time.
