Hazel turned eighteen months old on Sunday. My teeny, tiny wittle baby is becoming a kid and I can hardly believe it!
Just yesterday evening Ryan and I were hanging out with Hazel in the living room (Oliver was on a Chick-fil-a date with Grandma and Grandpa) and she was cracking us up – dancing around, climbing up the stairs to get shoes, then pants and wanting to go outside. She’s got a mind of her own and a very strong will.
While we were observing our little girl run and play in the living room we both marveled at how awesome she is and how excited we are to get to be a part of her little life. She is so fun to watch and we feel hugely privileged to get to be her parents. We actually get to keep watching her grow and be funny and mature into a young woman.
God is so good!
Last night after dinner the kids were playing, Audrey was emptying the dishwasher, and Ryan was monitoring the children, I sat down at the dining room table with a pen and paper to document how many words this girl uses at 18 months old. (When Oliver was 18 months old we had a chalkboard in our kitchen and just kept a running list for a month or so.)
Hazel has her well-check at the pediatrician tomorrow and I know he’ll ask about how many words she is using and I like to be prepared for that kind of thing. Plus, it’s funny to look at what words she’s using that Oliver wasn’t and vice versa.
So, in case you’re interested (and if you’re not it’s okay!), here is a list of the 54 words Hazel has learned in her 547 days on this Earth:

Awww, Happy 18 months Hazel!!
Hazel speaks pirate?? AYE!!!! :D
I don’t leave comments often enough, but she is so adorable – and Oliver is equally has handsome! You and Ryan make beautiful babies.
happy 18 months, hazey! you are the coolest babe i know ;)
She’s amazing.
She is doing GREAT! Girls are so talky, and so it’s only right that she have such a long list. Kisses, Hazel! We love you.
My parents always told me that I used “Aye” for yes for a long time when I was a baby too, how funny!
She’s so cute! I can’t believe she uses so many words! It’s amazing how much kids differ. I watch an 18 month old and she mostly just says mama and dada. I can get her to sign all done though, and she listens really well, just hasn’t felt much need to speak yet.
that hazel is the darlingest kid. i just want to squeeze her all up every time i see her on the screen! wish we lived closer. :)
Such a smarty pants!!! What’s your favorite word? There are certain words that Sam says that I ask him to repeat about 27 times a day just because it makes me giggle. My favorite lately is “bellybutton” which in Sam-speak is “Buh-buh-tee!”
Definitely when she says “aye” for yes. Makes me happy every time! I’m going to be so sad when she outgrows it!
Barbapapa is a VERY close second. “ba-ba-pa-pa!”
