Today called for cookies.
The peanut butter kind with kisses on top.
We are headed to the lake with friends this weekend and we were put in charge of Saturday morning breakfast.
Yes, french toast is fun. But you just can’t make a trip to the lake without cookies.
(am I the only one who likes to go back and squish down some of the kisses a second time? Please tell me I’m not alone.)
While I bake cookies, Hazel makes a mess of her lunch and Oliver tests a few too many.
But that’s okay. Because today called for cookies!

Peanut Butter Blossoms
48 Hershey’s Kisses
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Granulated sugar
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Remove wrappers from chocolates.
2. Beat butter and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 C white sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla and beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.
3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; arrange on ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 8 – 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
5. Immediately press a chocolate into center of each cookie; cookie will crack around edges.
(then do it again a few minutes later, if you’re a double-squishes kinda girl like me!)
6. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
7. Devour!
Happy Friday, friends! Hurrah for the weekend!
I’m totally a double squisher, too. And I’m also a too-many-taster, which is why I don’t bake often :) They look yummy! Also, did you already plan your breakfast menu? Because we have these planned as our holiday weekend breakfast, and I am giddy with excitement about tasting them! (Thank you, pinterest.) http://www.recipegirl.com/2011/03/01/cinnamon-roll-pancakes/
Whoa! Those look amazing! Definitely going to need to keep those in mind next time i’m called upon to make breakfast for a group. Or myself. :) Saw your run last night, by the way. WOW!
Oh Raechel, those are my favorite cookies!!!!!! and Ashley, the cinnamon pancakes… oh my goodness. I better get running so I can make those! :)
I can’t get this to work on my blogger dashboard or google reader. Every time I enter the new address to subscribe, it feeds posts from the old site, not the new site! :( Suggestions?
Okay, good to know. I’m passing this on to Kayla Aimee and she will work her magic. Definitely keep me posted if it’s working/not working. Thanks!
It is working now!!!! All of the sudden, it switched over to new site! Excited! :)
LOVE the new look of your site! :)
love your highchair. we have the older version in red. i love how simple it is! oh, and the cookies look alright ;) but really, i’m going to make them this afternoon!!!
