scoutie, couscous & the cheat

Posted by & filed under Oliver, Videos.

The other day I was fiddling around on my personal Facebook page and found a bunch of videos I’d shared way back when I was a new Mom. (Back when I thought I was so busy with my one child in a tiny condo. In retrospect, those were the days, y’all! I had all kinds of spare time to edit videos with music just to send to Ryan while he was at work. Then take a nap. Amen.)

Anyway, Oliver spotted me watching old videos and wanted to see and he and I spent the next hour clicking around and remembering those sweet, simpler times.

I have embedded a few favorites here for your viewing pleasure.

This one was one of the first times I’d served Oliver real, whole food to eat. The video makes me miss and not miss Scout all at the same time.

This next one makes me feel guilty now that I watch it. My cousin Nathan had sent a “The Cheat” doll when Oliver was born and that thing absolutely terrified him. It made funny noises when you bopped it on the head, and as new parents, we were entertained by the whole matter. Poor baby!

Third, final and by far my favorite: this one is called Couscous Rejection. Enjoy how young I am here (with short and dark hair!) and how goofy-looking Oliver was as a baby. But more than anything, just enjoy because you cannot say this is not hilarious!

Have a lovely Tuesday, friends! Think back to when it was just you and your firstborn and laugh a little at yourself for thinking how overwhelming things were :)

Love the videos. Thanks for sharing. We have a 5 1/2 month old daughter- our first. We’re having a lot of fun. Everything is new and exciting.

I guess I missed the announcement about you no longer having Scout. I hope your family has been able to adjust easily. That can be difficult.

    Love the blog!

Last March we sent her to live with a friends from church. They have a great big farm out in the country and she runs with the horses and chickens and keeps the mole population at bay. She’s a happy girl. We miss her, but it’s better.

Oh my! I laughed til I cried at the couscous video! There is only a black box for me on the doll video.:( Oh my! It’s hard to remember back to when I only had one child…in a tiny, one bedroom apartment! And I thought it was so hard to keep that place cleaned! *sigh* Thanks for sharing!!!

That’s awesome! I love how he keeps opening his mouth for more even though he hates it.

I totally know I have it easy with only one (and the year off from work… for a couple more weeks anyways!) I always think how this is the easiest and least busy my life will ever be since we’re planning to have a couple more. But it only gets better and more fun, right? Tell me I’m right. :)

Ha, I remember all these! Seems so long ago. I’m sure your life is a bit less hectic without The Scout, eh? Remember when we visited that first Christmas after Oliver was born and she ate part of the Ice Bat’s ear? I thought about that visit recently and wondered why in the world we stole his room when poor baby was happier in his crib. We were young. We could have happily slept on your couch and living room floor. You were such a good hostess, Rae.

(And in my defense, things WERE overwhelming for me with my firstborn(s). I have ceased to be whelmed for nearly 5 years.)
