Well, we’re home from Michigan. It’s always a relief and a let down all at once.
This trip we celebrated Ryan’s Dad’s retirement after 39 years of as the Director of Community Mental Health for the county. It was a big deal for him to leave. And it was a big deal for us to sit at the family table at the retirement dinner and hear so many important people have so many amazing things to say about our “dad”. We’re really proud of this guy, and it was fun to get to celebrate Day One of retirement with a long, snowy walk pulling kiddos in sleds, capped off with some good, old-fashioned downhill sledding.
Here’s to a long, amazing, exciting and restful retirement to two people we love and admire very much!
i just adore h’s joyful face–wish we still had sleds lying about! i’m thisclose to hijacking a few cookie sheets from the kitchen. :D
congratulations to ryan’s dad on that stretch of beautiful service. y’all come from good folks.
ooh, cookie sheets are a great idea!!
My dad just retired too and spent his first two weeks with his sister as her husband just passed. ugh He s about to spend a week cruising so don’t feel too bad for him ;) lol We live 3 stop sign, 3 stop lights, and 3 miles from my parents so my kids have designs on him picking them up from school every day, rather than them having to go to day care! lol I hope you FIL enjoys his retirement and you all get to spend lots of time with them!
On another note, I LOVE Hazel’s hat! My daughter would love it too! Where did you get it?
Love your blog!
Marilyn
