We’ve been enjoying our annual summer visit to Michigan to visit Ryan’s folks this week. And somehow, until now, our visits have always been a bit more about Oliver swimming and playing with his cousin Chloe (8) while we make sure the ‘babies’ keep to their nap schedule.
I’m not sure exactly what we expected this year, but it was an awesome surprise to get here and realize that the younger cousins (born only 13 days apart!) wouldn’t be babies this year! They’re kids – and they’re FUN!
This summer Hazel and Zara immediately attached at the hip. Since we arrived they’ve been busy pushing around their matching babies in their matching strollers (Groovy is so sweet and careful to do everything she can to avoid cousin battles) and making up all kinds of marvelous 3-year-old stories.
This morning I was getting Hazel dressed to go run an errand with Groovy, and Zara decided she’d like a wardrobe change as well. I guess you’re never too young to share an outfit with your girlfriend – or to wear matching headbands together to Hobby Lobby.
These girls have even been napping together! And on more than one occasion the adults have heard little “now it’s your turn!” exchanges coming from the basement or the craft station. (Yes, when you spend a week at Groovy’s house, you can absolutely expect to be able to drop everything and paint a bird house if the spirit leads!)
I love this next picture because it was so the opposite (though way better) than what I was trying to accomplish. I was asking the girls to give me a good, square, shoulder-to-shoulder picture. But, they clearly had their own thing going! I’m so glad.
It’s pretty awesome to get to witness first hand the beginning of a lifelong friendship between cousins. So thankful for these girls, and for Granddad & Groovy’s house that pulls us all together every summer and winter to make enough memories to last us for all that time in between!
Oh my, beyond adorable!! Heads together giggling, that’s just the best shot! I’m praying that one of my husbands or my sets of siblings will get with the plan so that our little girl (who will be born in Nov.) will have a little buddy!
LOVE those pictures and those girls are simply adorable!!! Hazel is the cutest little thing and I can’t get enough of her, love her eyes, her whispy hair, her scrunchy face and how much she looks like Oliver….cuteness to the max! That last pic is my fav by far, what a Beautiful friendship blooming!!!
These are so sweet!
Oh my goodness! They just melt my heart:) I LOVE the one that Hazel is giggling and whispering in Zara’s ear
This makes me so happy! I’m glad everyone is having a great time!
Oh, I love this! We are expecting our first at the end of December (we didn’t find out the gender!) and my sister-in-law is due 2.5 weeks after me (they’re having a girl!). She’s had all c-sections, so she’s likely to give birth a bit earlier and since this is my first, I’m likely to go a little later…I keep thinking of them as twin cousins! It will be so fun to see how many days they end up being apart and this post makes me even more excited! :D
Hmmm…and by “due at the end of December,” I actually mean “due at the end of October”! I’ll gladly not give myself an extra two months, thankyouverymuch! ;)
So precious! Cousin bff’s are the best!
Cousins are the best!! These pictures of the girls are so sweet. And their fashion – top notch. :)
that giggling shot. On my gosh.
My kids have learned that a visit to mimi and papa’s can have them painting various projects, too. I love that!
