We’ve all done it. Be honest – you know you have!
Those of us with babies who are no longer babies have almost all had that moment at a baby shower or in the baby section at Target where we say to ourselves (whether out loud or just quietly inside), “They didn’t have all this cool stuff when I was having babies! Maybe I should have just one more… just to get to try all this cool stuff!”
Please tell me I’m not alone here.
Well. The adorably pregnant Lindsay Pinchuk started Bump Club and Beyond in Chicago in 2010 as a way to connect moms and moms-to-be by hosting cool events based around their common interests (parenting classes, stroller barre workouts, pediatrician panels, Gearapalooza, and so on). Now, 3 years later, BCB is also in Austin,Minneapolis, San Francisco and coming soon to L.A., and it’s absolutely the kind of things that would make me want to have another baby if it came to Nashville (hint, hint, Lindsay!!) ;)
Last weekend I got to meet-up with some very rad people who do incredibly rad stuff. Not only did I get to meet Lindsay in person, but I was actually invited to be a co-host (with the lovely Dina Freeman from Baby Center) at a BCB event at the Land of Nod store.
(Yes, the co-hosts of the party matched. We’re calling it serendipity!)
I haven’t actually been to a brick-and-mortar Land of Nod store in years, so getting to “step into the pages of the catalogue” straight up made me feel like a kid in a candy store. (I’m not exaggerating. I’m pretty sure my face was plastered with an enormous grin the whole evening.)
I invited my sister to come along for the event and we decided to made a weekend of it in Chicago. I think by the end of the night we felt like, “forget having more kids – we feel like kids ourselves!”
To answer your questions:
Those sprinkly things are cake balls and they were fantastic. There was a new tray with new flavors brought out every hour at least and Rebecca and I smuggled a bunch of them back to the hotel room to eat later that night. #sorrynotsorry
Also, those are Baby Cakes pepperoni, mozzarella, basil pancakes and I wish I could have talked them into driving their food truck straight to house. They also made s’mores cakes. #HeavenInAPancake
And those shoes were marvelous and from Anthropologie and I definitely asked my sister to take a photo of them for me. Turns out, she wasn’t the only person photographing them that night – I went into the back room to grab something and one of the awesome LON employees had just come out and confessed to taking a photo of them in my purse (I switched to flats after hour 4 of the party) so she could remember them. We are now best friends.
Rebecca and I went on to have a killer sister-weekend in Chicago, including fun at the Field Museum, riding Divvy bikes on the lakeshore, eating awesome breakfast at LM Bistro and the RL burger at Ralph Lauren restaurant, taking the water taxi, sunning on the lake and taking in The Comedy of Errors on Navy Pier.
Have a great Saturday, loves! As this is publishing, I’m on a plane to Guatemala, terrified to open my mouth in the shower or find a giant bug in my bed. What a difference a week makes!
Praying for you this week!!! Can’t wait to see how your trip goes!
